GHB has a short detection window. In blood it is usually measurable for about 6 to 8 hours and in urine for about 12 hours, sometimes up to a day. That short window makes the timing of a test important.

How long is GHB detectable?

Because GHB is broken down quickly, the window is much shorter than for many other substances. The times below are guide values.

MatrixApproximate window
Blood± 6 to 8 hours
Urine± 12 hours, sometimes up to ± 1 day
Salivaa few hours

Why does timing matter so much?

Because GHB is largely broken down within hours, a test taken too late may show nothing. GHB is part of our extended 10-panel; you can have the GHB value measured there. The broader overview is at how long drugs stay detectable.
