In a job application, a drug test is rarely allowed in the Netherlands. The same GDPR rules apply: health data are protected and an employer needs a legal basis. If you want to come with a result yourself, you can have a test done on your own initiative and share it.
May an employer ask for a drug test during recruitment?
As a rule, no. A pre-employment medical examination is bound by strict rules, and a drug test almost never falls under it. Only for roles with a legal regulation, such as in aviation or rail, can this differ. Giving consent does not change that, because in a recruitment context it does not count as voluntary.
What if you want certainty yourself?
You can have a test carried out on your own initiative and keep or share the result. That way you stay in control. Which substances are in a standard panel, you can read in 5-panel vs 10-panel. The legal framework is in workplace drug testing. A targeted core 5-panel covers the most requested substances.
Every test result at Zuivertest includes a professional assessment from a BIG-registered doctor. For treatment decisions, discuss your results with your GP.
